The strength of the Lawyers’ Committee resides in its dedicated volunteer attorneys who provide professional legal consultation and/or representation for clients with matters that would otherwise be jeopardized without professional help, due to lack of funds. Each year, the Lawyers’ Committee mobilizes over 1,000 pro bono attorneys who contribute almost 50,000 hours of free legal assistance—services valued close to $20 million. Leveraging the power of the private bar enables LCCR to engage in impact litigation, policy advocacy and direct legal services in three core areas: Community Empowerment/Economic Justice; Immigrant Justice; and Racial Justice.
Legal fellows, law students, interpreters and other legal professionals are also integral to making a difference in people’s lives. Over the years, scores of volunteers have honed their diverse skills through essential hands-on work that has been indispensable to many in life changing cases. Combined, the priceless support of all our volunteers enables us to move our civil rights agenda forward by helping individuals and furthering causes that require stellar legal representation.
Our success depends on your critical support.
