Current and prospective business owners will get an overview of important legal issues faced by small businesses ranging from choosing the right legal entity, to intellectual property law, to employment law and commercial leases. A Legal Services for Entreprenurs offers a FREE workshop on hiring and employment law for microentrepreneurs. A pro bono attorney volunteer will present this two-hour class with time for Q&A. LSE staff will be available to assist workshop participants in applying for pro bono attorney matching or clinic registration if participants have follow-up questions for which they desire individual consultations.

Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to consult with a business law attorney one-on-one with questions about business entities (sole proprietorship, partnership, S-Corp, LLC, etc) or business contracts (vendor contracts, client project agreements, contracts to hire independent contractors, etc). Appointments will be 30 minutes each.

From Egypt to Yemen, a number of Middle Eastern countries have experienced significant upheaval and regime change in recent years. In connection with these sociopolitical shifts, there can be increased oppression by governments, a resurgence or entrenchment of conservative views that lead to increased risk of harm for women, LGBT individuals, and other vulnerable populations, and a failure on the part of the State to protect its citizens from violence and other persecution.  These developments can have a profound effect on asylum in the United States – impacting the types of clients and cases we see and raising the challenge of securing the accurate, up-to-date country conditions information that is essential to every asylum application. Come hear from an expert on human rights issues in the Middle East and two local immigration attorneys who have significant experience in presenting asylum claims from the Middle East, and share in discussion of the current state of affairs and the types of claims emerging from the region.   Bring your case examples, and get updated on this timely topic with these dynamic presenters:
